Lacrosse wins opener, 9-8

Junior Josh Green netted the go-ahead score with 1:15 left in the contest lifting Hanover men's lacrosse to a 9-8 win at Shenandoah (Va.) in its 2014 season opener.
Hanover led 7-6 but Shenandoah scored back-to-back to lead 8-7. The Panthers tied the match with 8:26 left and scored the winner on Green's late effort.
Nick Hermes led Hanover with five goals while Green had three. Zac Cheatle added one. The Panthers fired 30 shots with Green leading the way with 11. Junior goaltender Addison Sears posted nine saves to lead the Panther defense.
Hanover (1-0) visits Bethany (W.Va.) on Wednesday.
Tennis splits with Concordia
Hanover women's tennis kicked off the 2014 spring season in Lakeland, Fla., with a dominating 8-1 win over Concordia (Minn.) while Hanover's men lost by the same score
The women (1-0 spring, 14-3 year) swept all six singles.

Doubles - No. 1 Dani Miller and Mackenzie Spicer (HC) d. Morgan Sawatzke and Jade Haseltine (CC) 8-0; No. 2 Mallory Noble and Allison Poston (HC) d. Kaitlyn Davies and Brittany Glatt (CC) 8-2; No. 3 Taylor Peterson and Rose Reinert (CC) d. Kelly Gehlbach and Kirby Lantz (HC) 8-3.
The lone men's win was by brothers Brian and Reid Clark.

Hanover's men play Eckerd (Fla.) today in Tampa.
Baseball falls to Augustana
Hanover baseball was shut out by No. 21 Augustana 12-0 on Wednesday in the RussMat Central Florida Invitational in Auburndale, Fla.
Augustana (2-1) built a 9-0 lead after two innings and added three more in the fifth on four hits.
Hanover freshman Alec Dunn collected two of the team's three hits in his first collegiate start. D.C. Craig, a junior and Carroll County graduate, had the other base hit.
Starting pitcher Alex Lantz was tagged with the loss, working six innings allowing 13 hits and 12 earned runs with two walks and two strikeouts.
Hanover (2-1) continues invitational play today against Capital (Ohio).
