After losing for just the second time this season Thursday, Madison girls basketball bounced back on Saturday with a big 70-23 win at South Ripley.

Losing to Jeffersonville 42-36 just two days prior in a rusty performance following two weeks of inactivity, the Class 3A No. 5 Lady Cubs quickly returned to their old ways. Madison led 19-6 at the end of the first quarter and scored another 18 points in the second frame to lead 37-16 at halftime.

The Cubs continued to pour it on in the second half and outscored South Ripley 33-7 in the final two quarters to walk away with a lopsided 70-23 victory.

Madison put three players in double figures. Macky Hecox led all scorers with 14 points while Whitney Wynn and Olivia Crozier added 13 and 10, respectively.

And while Delanie Jones did not score in the contest, the Cub guard turned in a record-breaking performance. Jones dished out 10 assists - a school record for assists in a game.

South Ripley (4-11) was led by Hayley Schwarte's seven points.

Madison (12-2) hosts Franklin County (1-14) on Tuesday.
