Madison girls swim 7th at Hoosier Hills Conference

Madison's girls swim team finished seventh in the Hoosier Hills Conference championships Sarturday at Columbus East.
Floyd Central narrowly won the HHC over Jeffersonville 311-306. Other scores were Seymour 208, Jennings County 123, Columbus East 119, New Albany 115, Madison 80, and Bedford North Lawrence 62.
"All our girls swam really well," Cubs coach John Crawley said. "Most everyone is swimming at their best times ever. We are growing confidence as we head towards the end of the season."
Madison scored points in five different events. Abbi Wynn contributed in four of those events, finishing fifth in the 100 freestyle in 57.61 and sixth in the 200 IM at 2:27.85. She also finished sixth in the 200 medley relay alongside teammates Taylor Phillips, Tess Lemen and Hannah Miller in 2:08.81 and fourth in the 200 freestyle relay with Anderson, Miller and Phillips at 1:50.51.
The Cubs also collected points in the 400 freestyle relay with Liz Ray, Anderson, Lemen and Miller placing seventh with a time of 4:20.94.
Madison hosts South Dearborn on Thursday.
Rebels runners-up at Switzerland County
Southwestern's swim teams took two second place finishes in a four-way meet Saturday in Vevay.
In the girls' meet, South Ripley won with 98-95 over Southwestern. Switzerland County had 47 and Silver Creek scored 42.
Southwestern had seven first place finishes including: Jordan Worcester, Gianna Bennett, Rebekah Anderson and Meredith Webber, 200 medley relay, 2:17.59; Anderson, 200 free, 2:28.06; Bennett, 200 IM, 2:36.34; Webber, 100 free, 1:06.84; Worcester, 500 free, 6:17.85; Worcester, 100 breast, 1:29.15; Anderson, Webber, Taylor Suthard and Bennett, 400 free relay, 4:39.10.
Lady Rebels second and third place finishers included: Suthard, second, 2:56.61; Webber, second, 50 free, 30.63; Bennett, second, 100 fly, 1:13.44; Suthard, second, 100 breast, 1:30.93; Anderson, third, 100 fly, 1:15.20.
Switzerland County dominated the boys meet with 115 points to Southwestern's 63. Silver Creek scored 57 and South Ripley had 29.
Southwestern had one first place finisher. Nathan Anderson won the 100 backstroke in a time of 1:09.95.
Second and third place finishers were: Anderson, Zachary Hamilton, Dylan Truesdell and Jacob Shaffer, second, 200 medley relay, 2:06.48; Truesdell, second, 100 free, 1:04.12; Hamilton, Ese Taylor, Nicholas Battjes and Anderson, second, 400 free relay, 4:34.92; Battjes, third, 200 free, 2:32.13; Hamilton, third, 200 IM, 2:29.91; Anderson, third, 100 fly, 1:26.58; Hamilton, third, 500 free, 6:30.24; Truesdell, Shaffer, Taylor and Battjes, third, 200 free relay, 2:07.06.
No individual results were available on Switzerland county
Southwestern hosts Milan and Oldenburg on Tuesday.
