Leah Peelman finished second overall to lead Hanover College’s cross country teams efforts at the Indiana Intercollegiates Friday in Bloomington, the annual gathering of the Indiana’s colleges and universities also known as the Little State at Indiana University.

Peelman, a senior from Cincinnati, led Hanover’s women’s team to a 10th-place finish among Indiana’s 17 competing small schools. Peelman covered the five-kilometer course in 18:24 to finish 38 seconds behind Southern Indiana University senior Heather Cooksey (17:46).

Freshman Liz Otte was 21st overall in 20:07, Lindsay Ludwig placed 70th in 21:30, Alicia Peterson was 77th in 21:44.

DePauw captured the women’s small-college championship with 72 points. Indianapolis was second with 89 points.

In the men’s competition, Hanover’s men’s squad finished 16th among the 21 schools competing in the eight-kilometer event.

Mike Sullivan, a junior from New Palestine, led the Panthers by coming in 61st overall with a time of 28:17. Luke Tyler was 82nd in 28:59 and Daron Thayer was 95th in 29:28.

Anderson won the men’s Little State team title with 51 points while DePauw was second with 60 points.

Hanover compete in the University of Louisville Classic Saturday, Sept. 24.
