Trimble County picked up a big 73-56 road win at Eminence in boys basketball action on Thursday.
The Raiders got off to a hot start as three different players scored five or more points in the opening eight minutes. Trimble led 22-7 after the first quarter and maintained a 36-23 advantage halftime.
Although the two teams played much more even in the second half, Trimble continued to control the contest. The squads played to a 12-12 standoff in the third quarter as the Raiders protected their 13-point halftime lead before Trimble scored 25 in the fourth to seal the 17-point victory.
"It was a good road win for us," Trimble head coach Johnny Leep said. "We executed the gameplay perfectly by getting the ball inside and scoring early. That resulted in double and triple teams and multiple driving lanes."
Trimble County had four players score in double figures. Michael Dunaway led the way by posting a double-double of 20 points and 15 rebounds. Evan Long scored 19 - including 10 in the fourth quarter - while Dusty Wyssbrod and Andrew Young added 17 and 10, respectively.
"Michael Dunaway did a lot of work on the block and Evan Long continued his strong season attacking the rim and making plays," Leep said. "Dusty Wyssbrod ran the team to perfection in a hostile environment."
Leep also got two solid bench performances from Dalton James and Ryan Blanton.
"I was extremely impressed with Dalton James and Ryan Blanton," Leep said. "They provided us with big minutes and a couple huge hustle plays when the game was tight in the fourth quarter."
Eminence (3-20) was led by Jalen Dixie and Trevor Payton with 15 points each.
Trimble County (11-11) visits Williamstown on Saturday.
