Southwestern boys soccer finished its regular season Friday with a 5-1 win over Ohio River Valley Conference foe Rising Sun in Hanover.
The Rebels struck first when Markel Goikolea's shot from Coleman Jackson connected for an early 1-0 lead 12 minutes into the match. With eight minutes remaining, Rising Sun tied the score with a goal by Tyler Roberts.
Southwestern regained the lead less than two minutes later on a Jackson goal from Edi Tovar. Adding cushion to the lead, Tovar scored on a Cam Rogers pass, putting the Rebels up 3-1 at halftime.
Southwestern's defense dealt a shutout in the second half and the offense added two goals. Michael Arberg and Jackson scored on passes from Matt Hedges and Tovar, pulling away for a 5-1 win.
Southwestern (10-3-3, 8-2-2 ORVC) faces Shawe Friday in the IHSAA sectional tournament at Switzerland County.
