Southwestern swimming picked up a pair of victories on Saturday morning, defeating Scottsburg in a makeup meet at home.

In the girls meet, the Rebels narrowly edged the Warriorettes 61-58 while the boys meet saw Southwestern score 84 points to Scottsburg's 59.

"This was a last-minute makeup meet for us," Southwestern coach Jay Crawford said. "We had seven best times."

Southwestern scored eight first place finishes in the girls meet.

Girls first place finishers were: Jordan Worcester, Gianna Bennett, Rebekah Anderson and Meredith Webber, 200 relay, 2:22.74; Bennett, 200 free, 2:20.95; Anderson, 200 individual, 2:44.91; Anderson, 100 fly, 1:18.42; Worcester, Bennett, Webber and Anderson, 200 free relay, 2:05.96; Worcester, 100 back, 1:20.63; Bennett, 100 breast, 1:23.99; Jennah Butters, Kaitlyn Deskins, Sarah Schroeder and Taylor Suthard, 400 free relay, 5:17.08.

Lady Rebel second and third place finishers included: Suthard, second, 200 IM, 2:59.51; Webber, second, 50 free, 30.69; Schroeder, 100 back, 1:28.19; Butters, third, 200 free, 3:06.44; Schroeder, third, 200 IM, 3:13.77; Deskins, third, 100 fly, 1:44.95; Worcester, third, 100 free, 1:05.00; Mary Sinsel, Opel Punkiriya, Jin Kettong and Deskins, third, 200 free relay, 2:48.29; Suthard, third, 100 breast, 1:29.82;

Southwestern's boys team had four first place finishes in the meet. Rodrigo Sosa won the 200 individual medley in a time of 2:52.65 and the 200 relay with Nicholas Battjes, Ese Taylor and Jacob Shaffer in 2:15.97. The Rebels other two wins came from Nathan Anderson in the 200 free in 2:11.77 and Zachary Hamilton in the 100 breaststroke in 1:16.60.

Second and third place finishers in the boys meet were: Anderson, Hamilton, Sosa and Shaffer, second, 200 medley relay, 2:11.99; Battjes, second, 50 free, 31.87; Hamilton, second, 100 fly, 1:12.57; Anderson, second, 100 back, 1:11.76; Anderson, Taylor, Battjes and Hamilton, second, 400 free relay, 4:48.13; Taylor, third, 50 free, 34.31; Shaffer, third, 100 back, 1:22.20.

Southwestern's boys team will compete in the Jeffersonville Invitational on Tuesday. The girls team competes in the IHSAA Sectional at Floyd Central on Thursday.
