Southwestern jumped out to a big first quarter lead and never looked back while rolling to a 71-51 win over Cannelton on Tuesday for the Rebels' first victory of the season.

The victory snapped a 25-game losing streak dating back to last season and a 19-game streak this season.

Southwestern (1-19) led 19-9 after the first quarter and 35-22 at halftime behind 21 points from senior Tristan Embs. The Rebels increased that margin to 15 (46-31) by the third-quarter break en route to the 20-point win.

Embs finished with a career-high 26 points to lead Southwestern while freshman Tryston Wheatley scored 15 points and Tyler Ashby added 10. Matthew Schwartz had 12 rebounds to go along with six points.

Tristan Simmons led Cannelton (2-18), a late addition to the Rebels' schedule in an effort to fill in for weather cancellations, with 26 points. Damon Powers added 11 points.

Southwestern travels to Scottsburg tonight in its regular-season finale.
