A monthly food distribution by the church, located at 1400 East State Road 62 just across the road from King’s Daughters’ Hospital. No ID is required and the event is open to anyone.

Due to ongoing public restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the approach of winter months, the Jefferson County House of Hope Food Pantry hours of operation are Tuesdays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Please arrive at the pantry 15 minutes prior to closing to be served.

National Guard Armory, 1533 Clifty Drive, Madison

A mobile food distribution from at the National Guard Army, 1533 Clifty Drive. No ID is required to receive food and event is open to anyone. Gleaners holds this mobile food distribution at the same location and time each month.


Veterans Parade

at Prince of Peace Catholic Schools

Tuesday, Nov. 24 at 2 p.m.

Shawe Memorial High School and Pope John Elementary will host a rescheduled Veterans Day Parade to honor all veterans. Veterans should begin gathering in the St. Patrick’s Church parking lot after 1:30 p.m. Bottled water will be available for any veteran or participant. The Shawe Band of Gold will perform with the parade circling the schools and then heading heading down Hanging Rock Hill and up Main Street where local residents can turn out to show their appreciation to the men and women who have served our country.

Blood Drive — American Red Cross

The region’s blood supply, already challenged by the coronavirus pandemic, is even further depleted during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday seasons as donations normally slow while the need never pauses.There are several donation opportunities over the next few weeks including:

American Legion Post 9, 707 Jefferson St., Madison, Nov. 24 from 1-6 p.m.

Calvary Baptist Church, 2632 Michigan Road, Madison, Nov. 24 from 2-7 p.m.

Trimble County

Milton Fire and Rescue Station 2, 25 Volunteer Drive, Bedford, Kentucky, Nov. 30, from 2-6 p.m.

Let’s Talk Turkeys

With Thanksgiving quickly approaching, stop in the Nature Center and find out all about the bird that this holiday is centered around, and then make a fun craft. It’s 30-minute program and masks are required. Preregister for activities by calling the Nature Center at 812-273-0609 because space is limited.
