The Madison-Jefferson County Animal Shelter currently has a number of dogs and cats and kittens available for adoption including the final two siblings from a litter of black kittens.

Mitchell is an orange and white domestic short haired unaltered male. He is a sweet and loving cat looking for a forever home. He likes to be held, loved on, and played with all day long. He likes people and is a pretty big guy.

Trigger is a domestic short hair male tiger who is altered and up to date on vaccinations so there is a $45 adoption fee. He’s a handsome fella with big beautiful eyes looking for a forever home and would make a great indoor/outdoor cat. He loves attention, laying in laps and being scratched behind his ears.

If interested in either cat, please call the shelter to set up an appointment.

The shelter has pictures of additional pets waiting for adoption for viewing at www.sisaveapet.com. The shelter is currently open, but in light of COVID-19, will only take appointments and will not accept walk-in customers. To request an appointment, email animal.shelter39@ jeffersoncounty.in.gov. All cats and kittens are $45 off unless they are already spayed or neutered.

The shelter currently is in need of heavy duty dog leashes, wet and dry cat food, plain clay cat litter and hand soap refills. Donations may be left outside of the yellow door at the shelter, 2727 Hannah Drive, Madison, and a staff member will collect them.

Volunteers are always welcome at the shelter. Individuals must be at least 16 years old to volunteer. Volunteers can help with everyday cleaning, answering phones, and exercising the pets. Contact the shelter for details.

Those with missing pets can call or email a complete description of the pet, when and where it was last seen, the owner’s name and contact information, and a picture of the pet. Pets are held for three days before they are made available for adoption. Animals should not be abandoned outside of the shelter or dropped off at the shelter after hours.
