The cost associated with conducting a proposed strategic planning and marketing study for Jefferson Proving Ground has once again delayed Jefferson County Council’s decision on whether to approve that expenditure at its meeting on Tuesday.

Commissioner David Bramer announced that engineering and consulting firm Crawford, Murphy and Tilly has said phase one of the study would cost $299,000 — to be paid for from the county’s American Rescue Plan funds — while phase two would cost another $235,000 that could possibly be funded with READI (Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative) funds should they be available again.
