A Jefferson County man died Tuesday near Dupont in Jennings County after he was accidentally struck by a falling tree while helping a family member cut the tree.
Ronald Vinson “Ronnie” Harrison, 80, of Hanover, died from blunt force trauma early Tuesday afternoon on property owned by his brother, Danny Harrison, at 3365 East County Road 600 South, North Vernon, located about 2 miles northwest of Dupont.
According to a Jennings County Coroner’s Office report, the brothers were cutting the tree in windy conditions when the tree and fatally struck Ronald Harrison in a vulnerable position. Harrison was pronounced dead at the scene from blunt force trauma with injuries isolated to a small but vulnerable impact area, the coroner’s office said.
The accident was reported at 12:40 p.m. and the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office and Jennings County EMS-Rescue both also responded.
