Indiana State Police now believe they have identified the body of a man found dead Tuesday morning in a rural area of Ripley County just west of Osgood.

Investigators at the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post reached out to the public earlier this week for help in identifying the man based on an overall description — a white male in his 30s or early 40s, approximately 5 feet, 7 inches tall and 160 pounds with brown hair, brown eyes and a beard — as well as a photo of tattoos on his upper right arm.

State Police updated their search on Thursday to say that investigators believe the deceased man has now been identified and they are working to locate his next of kin at this time. The investigation is ongoing.

So far no details have been released on a cause or any circumstances related to the man’s death, but an autopsy was to be conducted on Wednesday to determine some of that information.

Anyone with information in the case can call Detective Tracy Rohlfing at the ISP Versailles Post at 812-689-5000.
