The city Madison, town of Hanover and Jefferson County offices will all be closed Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday and the city of Madison’s Light Up Merry Madison event — the official start of the holiday season in Madison — will be Friday night at the Broadway Fountain.
The city of Madison street department and transfer station will be closed Thursday for the Thanksgiving holiday with trash and recycle delayed one day. Compost will not run Friday. The transfer station will close Friday at noon and re-open Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Girls Inc. will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday from Nov. 23-25.
The United States Postal Service offices will be closed Thanksgiving Day, along with no mail delivery. As a result, your regular Thursday edition of The Madison Courier will have an earlier press deadline to allow for delivery on Wednesday.
All Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicle branches will be closed Thursday through Saturday in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday Branches will resume regularly scheduled business hours Monday, Nov. 28.
Madison’s Light Up Merry Madison event will throw the switch on Broadway Fountain decorations at 6 p.m. on Friday.
