A Ripley County traffic stop on Tuesday resulted in the arrest of a Madison couple on various drug charges on Tuesday.
The incident began when a deputy with the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle for following too closely and reckless driving. During the stop the officer allegedly established probable cause to search the vehicle and found 6.5 grams of cocaine along with other drugs.
The driver, Dustin Cutshall, 30, and passenger, Brittany Mefford, 24, both of Madison, were arrested and lodged in the Ripley County Jail in Versailles, Indiana.
Mefford, who remains incarcerated, is charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance-Cocaine, a Level 5 Felony; Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Level 6 Felony; and Possession of Controlled Sustance and Possession of Paraphernalia, both Class A Misdemeanors.
Cutshall, who is no longer listed as an inmate, is facing unspecified drug charges.
