Madison Police rescued at least four members of a family involved in an overnight house fire in the 600 block of Walnut Street — catching a baby thrown from a second story window and two children and a grandmother who all jumped to the officers to get out of the burning structure.

“I’m extremely proud of my officers and the work they did to save lives,” Madison Police Chief John Wallace said. “Their actions saved several of the occupants of the home.” Wallace said Officers Josh Nolan, Kyle Potter, Nichole Midgett, Phillip Wimpee, Jordan Perry, Cody Lewis, Jared Sweet, Curtis Shelpman and Kayla Taylor-Moore, and Detectives Ricky Harris, Kyle Cutshaw and Shawn Scudder, and Sheriff’s Deputy Travis Conover.
