Zach Vires, owner/operator of Vires Excavation and Concrete Inc. of Deputy, worked Sunday to position rebar ahead of this week’s concrete pour on the foundation for the new Deputy Volunteer Fire Department there. The fire department and its equipment were destroyed by fire in December 2018 but construction on a bigger and better replacement facility began in December 2020 after months of negotiation, insurance settlements, grant applications and fundraisers.
