Bridge approach work to resume April 12

Work on the approaches to the Milton-Madison Bridge in Madison will resume on or after Monday, April 12, when Beaty Construction crews return to the area to close out months of construction on the new US 421 gateway to Madison.

Workers are expected to begin moving dirt and placing sod throughout project limits. Traffic impacts should be minimal with the possibility of lane closures and flagging as needed.

In early May, crews will begin laying the final asphalt surface between Walnut Street and the bridge. This work will take place under lane closures with flagging. Following paving, a section of Main Street from Walnut Street to St. Michaels Avenue will be restriped to match the configuration of the bridge approach. Crosswalk markings at East Street also will be enhanced and parking will remain available on the north side of Main Street.

Motorists should slow down, use caution, and drive distraction-free in and near work zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
