Southwestern School Board began its meeting on Monday with a public hearing concerning the corporation’s 2023 budget and later received a report by corporation treasurer Laura Boldery that the impact of declining attendance has become a growing concern on school finances.

The advertised total budget for Southwestern is $16,462,889, which includes $10,922,400 in the education fund, $4,555,300 in the operations fund and $885,189 in debt service, along with $100,000 in a rainy day fund. The advertised tax levy is $11,573,243 with a tax rate of 1.6555.
