Madison Police deployed their tasers multiple times before subduing a Madison man who was naked and acting wildly toward officers in the parking lot of a hilltop business early Tuesday morning.
Travis Lynn Jones, 40, of Madison, was arrested after Madison City Police received a call at 1:24 a.m. reporting that a naked male was in the parking lot of the Lowe’s Home Improvement, 511 Ivy Tech Drive, and “acting bizarre.”
MPD Lt. Season Jackson was the first officer to arrive at the scene and found the suspect to be acting consistent with the caller’s report.
When Jackson attempted to exit her vehicle, Jones rushed toward the officer’s patrol car and attempted to keep the door shut. Patrolman Brian Ashcraft arrived on the scene soon after and was able to divert Jones’ attention away from Jackson’s vehicle.
Both officers were finally able to exit their vehicles and attempt to take Jones into custody. However, Jones aggressively resisted leading the officers to deploy their tasers. Jones continued to resist, and several more taser deployments were required before the officers were able to take him into custody.
Jones faces preliminary charges of Criminal Confinement, a Level 6 felony, and Public Nudity and Resisting Law Enforcement, both Class A misdemeanors. He was lodged in the Jefferson County Jail without bond.
