Dan Harrison passed away Sunday July 11, 2021, at his home in Country Squire Lakes, North Vernon, Indiana from heart failure. Dan was 73. Dan was born in Columbus Indiana and graduated from Edinburg High School. Dan completed the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in-residence training course, achieving the highest score in the handgun and shotgun divisions of the firearms course. Dan is survived by his brothers Gary, Mick, and Rick, and his sister Sherry Hooten. Dan was divorced and is also survived by two ex-wives and children from those early marriages. There will be a memorial service at Dan’s gravesite at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburg, Indiana (Mooney Addition Section H, Lot #4, on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at 2 P.M.

In his younger days, Dan played guitar, drums, and sang vocals for local bands and brightened many an occasion with his music. Dan was proud of his seven years of service with the Edinburgh Police Department in the 1970s and 1980s. Dan served with an impressive professional team of officers during those years. Dan also served with Pinkerton Security, and worked at a number of demanding jobs including school bus mechanic, drywall, and skilled factory work at Rexham Corporation.
