Donald Eugene Moir, 71, of North Vernon died at his residence Friday, November 19, 2021, at his home.
A Celebration of Life was held Monday, November 22, 2021, at the Rudicel Family Event Center in North Vernon. Arrangements were entrusted to Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Mr. Moir was a 1969 graduate of Columbus High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He had worked as a carpenter for a total of 60 years before retiring from Gibson Construction in 2018. Mr. Moir was a member of the American Legion and loved golfing, fishing, and mushroom hunting. He was also a history buff, science fiction fan, and a cancer survivor.
Born January 21, 1950, in Columbus, Mr. Moir was the son of Arnold Moir and Katherine Cheek Cain. He married Coral Brooks April 23, 1994, in North Vernon and she survives.
Other survivors include his children, Anthony “A.J.” (Cheyenne England) Moir of North Vernon, Amber (Kevin) Roberts of Seymour, Melissa Hester of Florida, Danielle “D.D.” Williams, James Earl, and Nicholas (Danielle) Earl, all of North Vernon, and Fonda (Adam) Abbot of Cleveland, Tennessee; brother, Charles Eaglewolf of Florida; sister, Melanie Day of Columbus; and grandchildren, Lexis and Austin Wingate and Abby and Jazmen Phelps, all of North Vernon, Tristan and Andrew Earl, both of Madison, Xavier Earl of Commiskey, Reece, Addison, Sam, and Ryder Abbott, all of Cleveland, Tennessee, Mallorie Silcox and Mackenzie Hester, both of Columbus, Bryce and Ethan Silcox, both of Seymour, Tristen Hester of Arizona, and Brandon Hester of Manchester, Tennessee.
Mr. Moir was preceded in death by his parents.
