Jennings County edged host Pendleton Heights 1-0 in the Horseshoe Classic on Saturday, April 8.
The Lady Panthers plated one run in the top half of the fifth inning to claim the win.
Mackenzie Matern pitched a five-hit shutout to lead Jennings County to the victory. Claiming the win in the circle, Matern recorded seven strikeouts.
Pendleton Heights pitcher Eliza Findlay suffered the loss in the circle.
Abby McDonald (one hit, one RBI), Ashley Meade (one hit), Claire Hack (one hit), Riley Byford (one hit) and Allie Zamora (one hit) each contributed at the plate for Jennings County in its winning effort. McDonald drove in the game-winning run for the Lady Panthers.
Morgan Humble (two hits), Lillian Coffel (two hits) and Kiah Hubble (one hit) accounted for Pendleton Heights’ offense in the tournament game.
