On Monday, June 7, the Jennings County High School boy’s golf team traveled south on Highway 7 to Madison’s Sunrise Golf Course to compete in IHSAA Sectional 28. The Panthers were up against nine other schools, including Austin, Henryville, Scottsburg, Southwestern, Switzerland County, Shawe Memorial, Charlestown, Rising Sun, and Hoosier Hills Conference rival Madison. When the final ball dropped into the cup for the day, the Panthers found themselves in sixth overall, just 23 total strokes short of advancing to regional competition.

Jennings County had five golfers that were able to compete in the event. Panther Brett Silvey led the way for the Panthers, shooting an 86. He was a mere four strokes too many to advance to regionals as a solo golfer. Other scores for the Panthers came from Jack George, 89, Jake Grider, 95, Chad Gasper, 96, and Tanner Stearns, 105.

We at the Plain Dealer and Sun wish to congratulate the golf team on an excellent season. Look forward to a golf season recap in a future edition.
