In separate Twitter announcements last week, two seniors on the Jennings County High School girls basketball team announced their verbal commitments to two colleges in the area.
Kali Thompson began the news-filled week, committing to play at Franklin College.
“I am extremely excited to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at Franklin College! I am very thankful for the Franklin coaching staff, my family, teammates, and coaches. I am very blessed and am looking forward to this next chapter! Go Grizzlies!” stated Thompson’s tweet.
A short four days later, it was Lily Ernstes’ turn to make her college decision.
“So excited to announce my verbal commitment to Hanover College to continue my academic and athletic career. Thankful for my family, coaches, and teammates for helping me get here, and especially thankful for the HC coaching staff for allowing me this opportunity. Go Panthers!” read the tweet from Lily. These current teammates will turn to bitter rivals when they trade in their JC uniforms for the college uniforms, with Hanover and Franklin having one of the bigger rivalries in D3 sports. Congratulations to both Kali and Lily.
