The Jennings County High School girl’s tennis team hosted Lawrenceburg on Saturday morning, and fell 5-0 to the Tigers. In the #1 singles position, Elle McMullen defeated Regan Brown 6-2,6-3. Gracie Safaviyan defeated Jennings County’s Tatum Brown in the #2 singles spot 6-2,6-1. In #3 singles, Lady Panther Carmen Kopitzke fell to Evelyn McAndrew 6-1,6-0. Moving to the doubles spots, Liz Ertel and Sydney Carson were defeated by Calli Pope and Ella McAndrew of Lawrenceburg 5-7, 6-4, 6-4. In the last doubles match of the day, Cassidy Mull and Hannah Green of Jennings County lost 6-1, 2-6, 6-4 to the duo of Jasmyn Blackburn and Lola Safaviyan.
The tennis team was back on the court on Monday, as they hosted New Albany in the first round of the Hoosier Hills Conference tournament. Unfortunately for the Lady Panthers, the results were similar to the weekend, and the team lost 4-1. The lone winner for the Lady Panthers was Carmen Kopitzke in the #3 singles match, where she defeated Sierra Zamarano 7-6, 2-6, 6-1. In the #1 singles spot, Reagan Brown was defeated by Claire Merye 6-2, 6-3. New Albany’s Natalie Saydera defeated Tatum Brown 6-4, 6-2. In the doubles matches, Liz Ertel and Sydney Carson lost 6-2, 6-1 to Layne Burke and Lily Meyer. Lady Panthers Cassidy Mull and Hannah Green were defeated by Elise Conrad and Marie Crone 6-0, 6-2 in the final doubles match.
The Lady Panther tennis team will continue their season with another match on Friday, however time and opponent were not public at time of press.
