Laura “Laurie” Brooks, age 65, passed over Friday, December 24, 2021 peacefully at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus.

It was Mrs. Brooks’ wishes not to have any services. Cremation was chosen and the family will have a memorial at a later date in Florida. Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service was entrusted with arrangements.

Mrs. Brooks was a 1974 graduate of Jennings County High school and crowned Miss Jennings County. She was a mother and friend to many, always showing love and kindness to those in need. She spent many years working Branded B Farms with her husband and children as well as supporting the Horse and Pony 4H Club. She took pride in being a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children in Jennings County. Mrs. Brooks enjoyed fishing, breeding and training horses, traveling, and the beach. Above all, she loved her family and friends.

Born July 15, 1956, at Eglin Air Force Base Hospital in Valparaiso, Florida, Mrs. Brooks was the daughter of Edward and Judy Pratt. She married Glen Brooks July 3, 1980, and he survives.

Other survivors include a son Burt (Angie) Brooks of North Vernon; daughtera, Abigail Brooks of Lexington, Kentucky, and Jesi Brooks of Madison; father, Edward (Paula) Pratt of Auburndale, Florida; brother, Keith (Patty) Pratt of North Vernon; grandchildren, Addison, Wilson, Tommy, Ryker, and Gracyn; and step-grandchildren, Colton and Kelsie, as well many other in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by her mother, Judy Pratt and a brother, Ed Pratt.
