A presentation was held Friday for Gayle Jines, a local bus driver in the Jennings County School Corporation, at Brush Creek Elementary. Gayle was awarded the Outstanding Service in Pupil Transportation Award, an award that is presented to one bus driver in the entire state of Indiana annually by the School Transportation Association of Indiana. Gayle was nominated by co-worker Julie James. Pictured are Jines and James after he accepted the award. James wrote, “Gayle has been a bus driver for the Jennings County School Corporation for 41 years. He has not missed one day of work in 41 years of driving a bus!! He takes pride in his bus and keeps it clean at all times. The students that ride his bus love hime, and he has a great relationship with his parents. He has a huge heart and would do anything for the kids on his bus. If he knows of a need, he does whatever he can to make sure the need gets met! He is down-to-earth and has never met a stranger. Gayle is loved by all who know him!! He is also a farmer and helps those around him. He is always on the go and never stops! He always greets everyone with a smile! Gayle is a true treasure to the Jennings County School Corporation and the Brush Creek Elementary!”
