A call to investigate an alleged burglary in Country Squire Lakes (CSL) resulted in the arrest of Miranda Garrett, the Jennings County Sheriff’s office announced.

Garrett allegedly stole a vehicle, a firearm and other items from a residence in CSL. The vehicle was stolen from the garage and recovered April 15. Evidence collected from the stolen vehicle led deputy John Hartman to request a search warrant at Garrett’s residence, which was just a couple doors down from the burglary location.

On April 17, a search warrant was granted and some of the stolen property from the burglary was located and Garrett was taken into custody. Drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine related items were also located during the search.

Following up on a tip, Sheriff Kenny Freeman, Sgt. Thomas Mellencamp, deputies John Hartman and Tyler Campbell traveled to Columbus where they allegedly located the stolen firearm.

The investigation is ongoing, but Garrett was taken to the jail on charges of burglary, auto theft, possession of methamphetamine, violation of the Indiana Drug Act, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of paraphernalia, per the sheriff’s office.

Also involved in the ongoing investigation are: Sgt. Drew Heilers, Sgt. Cody Low, Det. Ian McPherson, deputies Kyle Lee, Max Marcoux, Shane Trepanier, Morgan Gabbard, Blake Maynard, Doug Brown, Eric Pettit, Brandon Johnson and NVPD officer Adam Jackson.

The sheriff’s office urges residents who are going to be away from their home for extended amounts of time to contact the them or the CSL administration office and request an extra patrol or home check of property while they are away. Please provide contact information and a list of people and/or vehicles authorized to be at your home during your absence.
