Mary Walterman Striecker, 98, of Greensburg died Monday, November 15, 2021, at Arbor Grove Village in Greensburg.
Funeral Mass was Saturday, November 20, 2021, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg. Rev. Bill Ehalt officiated. Interment was at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Greensburg. Porter-Oliver-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg was entrusted with arrangements.
Mrs. Striecker was a farmer’s wife and had also worked and trained at Muscatatuck State Hospital. She played banjo and along with her husband, they loved to play country music. They were members of a band called the “Hoosier Snowbirds” that played in Florida. Mrs. Striecker also loved to play cards, bake, and cook. She sewed dresses for her daughters when they were young out of feed sacks.
Survivors include a son, Thomas (Mary) Striecker; daughters, Paulene Feldman-Hurt of Greensburg, Betty Burkhart of Columbus, Marlene (Albert) Daeger of North Vernon, and Sue (Mike) Wilds of Westfield; a brother, Lowell Walterman of Greensburg; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Stiecker was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings, Mabel Ailes, Muriel Laudick, Opal Moeller, and Harold and Russell Walterman; sons-in-law, Al Feldman, Don Hurt, and Bob Burkhart; and three great-great-grandchildren, Dee Riley Wehner, Amarai Asher Wehner, Zion Amariah Wehner.
