Earlier this week, both the Jennings County High School boys and girls soccer teams competed in their sectional competitions, and unfortunately for Panther fans, their seasons ended in round 1.

On Monday night, the Jennings County boys soccer team traveled to New Albany and played the host team in game one of the sectional. The Panthers had faced the Bulldogs just a few nights prior, and lost 3-0. The results were worse for the Panthers in the sectional game, as the team lost 7-0. With the season coming to an end for the Panthers, the team says a bittersweet goodbye to seniors Ian Sawyer, Layne Suhre, Ethan Brown, Logan McIntosh, Kai Henneke, and Carson McNulty.

On Tuesday evening, the Lady Panthers were the host of their sectional, and acted as the away team in a meeting against Jeffersonville. When the girls last played Jeffersonville, they lost by a score of 2-0. They were able to put more points on the board in their sectional matchup, but still were unable to outscore the Red Devils, losing 5-3. Scoring for the Panthers were Abby McDonald, Morgan Lane, and Grace Kirchner. One assist came from Lane. In goal were Alayna Phillips, eight saves and three goals against, and Cheyeanna Leslie, nine saves and two goals against. The Lady Panthers will also be losing seniors this season, as Lexi Kelley, Lilly Burchell, Zoey Ison, Morgan Lane, Delany Burkman, and Grace Kirchner all put on their jersey for the last time on Tuesday.

Jennings County and Sand Creek Soccer Complex will continue to host IHSAA Sectional 15 through Saturday.

The North Vernon Plain Dealer and Sun wishes all twelve seniors across the two teams the best in their future endeavors.
