Allene Elizabeth Smith Wentworth, 90, of Louisville, died Sunday, May 30, 2021, at her residence.
She was born on Dec. 12, 1930, in Gratz, Kentucky, to William Jennings “Willie” and Mary Josephine Kistner Smith. She was a 1950 graduate of Trimble County High School and attended the former Bryant and Stratton Business College — now known as Sullivan University. She retired after 35 years as a punch press operator at the former J.V. Reed and Company in Louisville. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, crocheting, boating and water skiing, traveling, yard sales and square dancing.
Survivors include a daughter Faye Miller of Bedford; two sons, Douglas Wentworth of Simpsonville, Kentucky and Dan Wentworth of Louisville; two brothers, Gus Smith of Bedford, Kentucky and Charles Smith of Greenwood, Indiana; and four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Bessie Winkle and Mary Gilley; and five brothers, R.C. Smith, Hiner Smith, Andrew Smith, Orville Smith and Alvin Smith.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 3, at the Ransdell Funeral Home in Bedford, with interment to follow in Bedford Cemetery there. Visitation is 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, and from 10 a.m. until time of services Thursday at the funeral home.
