Robert D. “Bob” Dake, 91, of Scottsburg, Indiana, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2020, at Hickory Creek of Scottsburg.
He was born on Sept. 5, 1929, in Whiteland, Indiana, to William “Bill” Alonzo Dake and Hazel Fraker Dake. He graduated from New Washington High School in 1949 and immediately joined the US Air Force, achieving the rank of staff sergeant. He served three years, six months and 18 days at Tulen Air Force Base in Vienna, Austria, during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired Tool and Die Maker for the old Reliance Electric Company in Madison, Indiana, where he worked for 31 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 173 in Versailles, Indiana, and a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 765 in Madison.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Doris Johnson Dake; a daughter, Melissa Ann Reardon of Scottsburg; and six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Roger Dale Dake; two brothers, William Warren Dake and Walter Dake; and two sisters, Rosemary Ann Wells and Betty Gordon.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 28, at the Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg and may be viewed in the Collins Funeral Home Facebook page at that same time. Visitation is 11:30 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the funeral home. Social distancing and face masks are required.
Cremation has been chosen following the services with burial at a later date in the Scottsburg Cemetery.
