Carl W. Law, 65, of Milton, Kentucky, died Monday, May 31, 2021, at University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, after suffering a heart attack.

He was born on May 31, 1956, in Madison, Indiana, to Woodrow “Dick” Wilson Law and Dorothy Jane Means Law. He was a 1974 graduate of Trimble County High School where he played varsity basketball and was then offered a basketball scholarship to play for Union College. He was raised in the Norfolk Wesleyan Holiness Church on Corn Creek. He married Melanie Sue Bray on April 29, 1977, in Madison, and they had a daughter. He was a contractor in construction and worked alongside his daughter for many years as a team. He loved fishing for catfish, riding his side by side and ATV, gardening, hunting, hanging out with his grandchildren, nieces and nephews and socializing with friends and family.

Survivors include his daughter, Jessica Layne Law of Bedford, Kentucky; his brothers, Elmer Law of Scottsburg, Indiana, Ted Law of Bedford and Allen Wayne Law of Milton; seven sisters, Naomi “Janie” Mefford of Milton, Liz Hall and Rebecca Sizemore, both of Madison, Mary Lovell of Texas, Ruth Wren of Alabama, Joyce Lewis of Canaan, Indiana and Martha Sublett of Bedford; and three grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 41 years on March 6, 2018; and a sister, Rachel Lee Law Temple Davis, on Sept. 15, 2004.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, June 4, at the Mt. Byrd Christian Church in Milton. Interment will follow in the Saint Peter Lutheran Church Cemetery on Hunter’s Bottom in Carroll County near Milton. Visitation is 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday and 12:30 p.m. until time of services Friday at the church.
