Charles Thomas Lathrem Jr., 71, of Madison, Indiana, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2020, at the River Terrace Health Campus in Madison.

He was born March 1, 1949, in Frankfort, Kentucky, to Charles Thomas Lathrem Sr. and Laverne Hatcher Lathrem. He had resided in Jefferson County since 1960 and graduated from Madison Consolidated High School in 1967. Early in life he worked at Lodge Brothers Furniture and Muster’s Fruit Market in Madison. He attended the New Albany School of Nursing and Ivy Tech Community College. He served in the US Army from 1967-1973 and was honorably discharged from the Reserves as a sergeant. He had also attended Non-Commissioned Officers School in Texas. He retired from the Madison State Hospital as a Licensed Practical Nurse after 31 years of service and was a member of the North Madison Baptist Church. He enjoyed watching TV, using the computer, dining out and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his son, Jeremy Thomas Lathrem of Madison; his daughters, Jennifer Renee Lathrem McDaniel of Madison, Indiana and Rebecca Jean Lathrem of Hanover, Indiana; his stepson, Bryson Haines; a sister, Brenda K. Liter of Madison; and four grandchildren, a niece, a nephew and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 22, at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison. Visitation is 5 p.m. until time of services Sunday at the funeral home.
