Charles Allen “Hoppy” Smith Sr., 62, of Milton, Kentucky, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2021, at his home in Milton.

He was born Aug. 14, 1958, in Madison, Indiana, to Raymond Harold and Ruth Ethel Kidd Smith. He resided in this area most of his life and was raised in the Baptist faith. He married Mary Ward on May 28, 1982, in Fort Worth, Texas, and they had two sons. He was a union operator for Miller Pipeline and worked for Operators Local 181 out of Lexington, Kentucky, for 23 years. He enjoyed watching the New York Jets and Indiana University sports, collecting antiques, going fishing and being with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his loving sons, Charles Allen Smith Jr. of Madison and Joshua Allen Smith of Deputy, Indiana; his sister, Barbara Bush of Madison; a brother, Tommy Smith of Texas; four grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Michael Ray Smith and Mark Anthony Smith.

Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 20, at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison. Interment will be at a later date in Bayless Cemetery in Madison. Visitation is from 5 p.m. time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
