Charles R. “Charlie” Conaway, 68, of Hanover, Indiana, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2021, at King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison.
He was born Jan. 12, 1952, in Jefferson County, Indiana, to Charles E. and Mary Catherine Stuart Conaway. He attended Madison High School and lived in Madison for most of his life until moving to Hanover. He worked for the Madison Police Station and Sandstone in Madison. He loved Dodge trucks, collecting keys and riding in Mayor Al Huntington’s Cadillac. He attended church at West Madison United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his sisters, Brenda Kelly, of Hanover and Kim Fields, of Seymour, Indiana; two brothers, Steve Conaway, of Hanover and Billy Conaway, of Madison; an aunt, Jean Ritchey of Madison; and two nieces, two nephews and a great nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Rodger Stuart and Mike Conaway; his grandparents, Lauder and Christy Stuart and Jesse and Estella Conaway and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 15, at the Lytle Welty Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, on Madison’s hilltop with interment in Fairmount Cemetery in Madison. Visitation is 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14 and 10 a.m. until time of service on Friday at the funeral home.
