David Richard Chipman, 83, of Cincinnati, died Monday, May 31, 2021, at Mercy Health West in Cincinnati.
He was born on March 25, 1938, in Cincinnati, to Elmer and Cora M. Tippenhauer Chipman. He was raised in Rising Sun, Indiana, where he was a 1956 graduate of Rising Sun High School. He married Wanda JoAnn Bladen on June 11, 1960, in Rising Sun and they had a son and a daughter. He had resided in the Cincinnati community since 1962 and was employed as a grocery stocker for Meijer’s in Cincinnati for two years, owned and operated Chipman Machining Company in Cincinnati from 1987 to 2015. He was a member of the Groesbeck United Methodist Church in Cincinnati and enjoyed gambling, working, playing cards and socializing with his family and friends.
Survivors include his daughter, Marcia Sprague of Covington, Kentucky; his son, Rich Chipman of Cincinnati; and five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 49 years on Feb. 27, 2010; his brothers, Robert and Carl Chipman; and his sisters, Dorothy Cutter, Violet Cook and Ruth Bailey.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay. Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery there. Visitation is 11 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
