Elsie Mae Mosher McKay, 97, of Hanover, Indiana and formerly Bedford, Kentucky, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021, at the Hanover Health & Rehab Center in Hanover.

She was born on March 30, 1924, in Aurora, Illinois, to Leno Henry and Margaret Bertha Smith Mosher. She married Tilford Dale McKay on Dec. 30, 1946, in Milton, Kentucky, and worked in a naval shipyard where met her husband who was serving in the US Navy. They had two daughters and a son and lived in Minnesota and Oregon before moving to Kentucky in 1946. She was a homemaker who loved gardening, reading, scrap-booking, collecting recipes and quilt-making.

Survivors include her daughters, Yvette Hayes of Milton and Tammi Durham of Bedford; her son, Brian McKay of Milton; and three grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of nearly 60 years on Sept. 5, 2006; her brothers, Robert Mosher and Donald Mosher; her sisters, Betty Brierly and Hilene Smith and other relatives.

Visitation is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Tuesday, Sept. 7, at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison with interment to follow at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Milton.
