George Dallas Jines, 86, of Dupont, Indiana, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021, at Scott Memorial Hospital in Scottsburg, Indiana.

He was born on March 30, 1935, in Jefferson County, Indiana, to James Frederick “Fred” Jines and Waunetta Naomi Chambers Jines Jackson. He was inducted into the US Air Force in 1954 and served in the Military Police until being honorably discharged in 1974. He married Pansy Kathleen Gilkey on April 4, 1957, and they had four sons. He was an over the road trucker for Decatur Mold and retired from Dave O’Mara as a tri-axle dump truck driver. He was raised in the Dupont United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Madison VFW Post 1969, the Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion, the Amvets and the Eagles Lodge. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years of Dupont; his four sons, Michael W. Jines of Commiskey, Indiana and Dwain D. Jines, Brian D. Jines and Thomas A. Jines, all of Dupont; and eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Bonetta “Bonnie” Jines Cain in 2016; his stepfather, Arley K. Jackson in 1996; and his stepmother, Anna K. Jines in 1997.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2021, at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Dupont Cemetery in Dupont. Visitation is 11 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the funeral home. A final salute with military honors will provided by the Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion.
