Georgia Frances Cochran Jewell, 91, of Madison, Indiana, died Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at the River Terrace Health Campus in Madison.
She was born on March 7, 1930, in Rush County, Indiana, to George Albert and Mildred Elizabeth Brown Cochran. She was raised in Vevay, Indiana, and was of the Christian faith. She married Thomas W. Robinson and they had two sons and later married Scott Cantrell Jewell Sr. in 1957 and they had two sons. She moved to Jefferson County, Indiana, and resided there for more than 50 years. She worked at Madison State Hospital in food services until retiring in May 1993 after 20 1/2 years. Earlier in life she had also worked at the former Fiesta Restaurant in downtown Madison.
Survivors include three sons, Richard Lee Robinson of Commiskey, Indiana, Tommy Lynn “T.R.” Robinson of Shelbyville, Indiana and Scott Cantrell Jewell Jr. of Deputy, Indiana; and 16 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 18 years, Scott Cantrell Jewell Sr., on Dec. 10, 1975; a son, Jeffrey Alan Jewell, on July 10, 2020; and two grandchildren and a great grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 27, at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison. Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery in Vevay. Visitation is 11 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.
