Janice Gay Gilley Chandler, 82, of Madison, Indiana, died Monday, Jan. 4, 2021, at the Thornton Terrace Health Campus in Hanover, Indiana.

She was born Nov. 7, 1938, in Osgood, Indiana, to Buck Gilley and Ruth LaVon Gilland Corbin. She graduated from Madison High School in 1956, and was a resident of Jefferson County, Indiana, most of her life. She married Eugene Wayne Chandler Sr. on March 25, 1955, and they had three sons. She retired from Madison Consolidated High School after 31 years as a cook, was a member of Indian-Kentuck Baptist Church near Canaan, Indiana, and enjoyed raising her sons, cooking, canning, gardening, raising flowers and being a 4-H leader.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years of Madison; her sons, Eugene Wayne Chandler Jr. of Havana, Florida and Garry Chandler and Jeff Chandler, both of Madison; a half sister, Pat Corbin of Madison; and two grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Willard Corbin, in 1981; her half brother, Jerry W. Corbin, in 2006; and a half sister, Lynda Lou Corbin Chatham, in 2019.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 9, at the Madison Assembly of God Church in Madison. Interment will follow in the Grandview Memorial Gardens near Madison. Visitation is 11 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the church. Arrangements entrusted to Morgan & Nay Funeral Centres in Madison and Hanover.
