Joyce Sue Arnett Davis, 79, of Bedford, Kentucky, died Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at her home in Bedford.
She was born Jan. 31, 1942, in Carrollton, Kentucky, to Chester and Opha Arnett. Her family moved to Switzerland County and she graduated from Vevay High School in 1958. She married Cleon Denvil Davis. She was a graduate of Louisville Beauty College and owned and operated her own beauty shop for many years. She later served as a guard for the Kentucky State Reformatory in La Grange, Kentucky, until she retired. She enjoyed being outdoors in her vegetable garden, reading, crocheting, tending to her rose garden, spending time with her family, friends and her dog, Sadie.
Survivors include her daughters, Teresa Craig and Shonda Riley, both of Bedford and Jennilu Emerick of Louisville; a son, Dwayne Tandy of Madison, Indiana; her brother, David Arnett of Knoxville, Tennessee; and seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Denvil Davis; her sisters, Ruth Smith, Kathleen Stewart and Eunice Vanderbrink; and a great grandson.
