Joyce Sullivan Hogg, 78, of Charlestown, Indiana, died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2022, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana.

She was born on Sept. 27, 1944, in Henry County, Kentucky, to Tom Sullivan and Susie B. Downey Sullivan and grew up in Trimble County, Kentucky, where she attended Trimble County High School in Bedford, Kentucky. She later lived in Hanover, Indiana, and received her GED from Madison Consolidated High School in Madison, Indiana. She moved to Charlestown where she worked as a custodian for Greater Clark County Schools for 30 years and raised her family. She also worked for the Charlestown Civic Center for 20 years and helped maintain the facility as well as serve as a mentor to the youth of the community. Her compassionate nature also led to her serving as a caregiver for a disabled senior for many years. She was a 13-year survivor of breast cancer, a bingo enthusiast and enjoyed playing Euchre and Yahtzee. She loved spending time with family and friends, especially during the holidays.

Survivors include a daughter, Heather Hogg Curtis of Charlestown; a son Chris Wehner of Charlestown; four brothers, Alvin Sullivan Sr., Buford “Peewee” Sullivan, Kenny Sullivan and Timothy “Timbo” Sullivan, all of Bedford; a sister, Cindy Sullivan Frazier of Bedford; a roommate/caregiver, Tina Mathes of Charlestown; and a granddaughter and many nieces, nephews and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Stella Sullivan; four brothers, Benny Sullivan, Everett Sullivan, Lucian Sullivan and Tommy Sullivan; and a grandson.

Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19, at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with visitation from noon until the time of services Saturday at the funeral home. Cremation was chosen so there will be no graveside services.
