Loretta Beckham-Wainscott, 83, of Carrollton, Kentucky, died Friday, May 5, 2023, at her home in Carrollton.

She was born in Georgetown, Kentucky, on Sept. 3, 1939, to Lottie and Henry Beckham. She was raised on Greenup Hill in Monterey, Kentucky, and graduated from Owen County High School in 1956. She married Bobby Gayle Wainscott, from Owenton, Kentucky. She was known to be a sassy, strong woman with heart. She had worked as a telephone operator and retired after working 20 years at Carroll County Middle School and Alternative School as an administrative assistant. In the summer she also ran the Carroll County swimming pool from the time it first opened until her retirement. She also served as a den mother and Sunday school teacher and was a Kentucky Colonel.

Survivors include her daughter, Vicki Georgiev; four sons, Ricky Wainscott, William Wainscott, John Wainscott and son James Wainscott; two brothers James Beckham and David Beckham; a sister, Edna Beckham: and 18 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, Sidney Thomas Beckham.

Funeral services are at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9, at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home in Carrollton. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrolllton. Visitation is 11 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
