Marvin Charles “Lum” Hall, 79, of Hanover, Indiana, died Monday, Nov.9, 2020, at the Hanover Nursing Center in Hanover.

He was born on June 29, 1941, in Jefferson County, Indiana, to Samuel Thomas and Margaret Proffitt Hall. He owned and operated his own excavating company for many year and was a longtime member of the Paynesville Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and Alcoholic Anonymous. Through his committed involvement in Alcoholics Anonymous, Lum’s Legacy Three-Quarter House was established in downtown Madison. He had a kind heart and was a great friend to many. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle.

Survivors include his sons, Marvin Lee Kilgore of Hanover and Aaron Christopher Hall of Seymour, Indiana; his caregiver, Kelley Culver of Madison; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Joy Ann Mitchell; and his brother, George Thomas Hall.

A celebration of life gathering will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14 at the Paynesville Mt. Zion United Methodist Church near Hanover.
