Mary Lois Wilkerson, 99, of Scipio, Indiana, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022, at the Lutheran Home in Seymour, Indiana.
She was born on Sept. 11, 1922, in Scipio, to Willard and Vail Johnston Milholland. She was a graduate of Scipio High School and married Kenneth P. Wilkerson on Sept. 16, 1939, in North Vernon, Indiana. She worked on the assembly line for Arvin’s in Columbus, Indiana, for 34 years until retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Scipio United Methodist Church, and Hands of Hope. She was a former hospice volunteer for 20 years, enjoyed cooking, fishing, working puzzle books, doing yard work and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Beverly Vogel of North Vernon; five grandchildren, Kenneth Webber of Lafayette, Indiana, Mike Vogel of Henryville, Indiana, Melissa Skirvin of Vevay, Indiana, Barbara Walker of Indianapolis and Scott Vogel of North Vernon; and 12 great grandchildren and 21 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 30 years on Jan. 15, 1970; two daughters, Kimberly Webber and Sharon Wilkerson; a brother, Lowell Milholland; two sisters, Winifred Foist and Jean Hines; and three grandsons, Greg and Christopher Vogel and Tom Skirvin.
Funeral services will be at noon on Saturday, Jan. 15, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. Burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon, Indiana. Visitation is 10 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.
