Mildred Baker, 95, of Commiskey, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021, at her residence.
She was born Nov. 6, 1925, in Buckhorn, Kentucky, to Arnold and Lula Gay Begley. She married Clarence Roland Baker on Sept. 24, 1949, in Buckhorn. She was a homemaker, housewife and helped around the farm. She was a member of Commiskey Baptist Church and a former member of the Deputy Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, gardening and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her son, Gary Roland Baker of Commiskey; two daughters, Glenda Baker of Commiskey and Greta Raleigh of Chavies, Kentucky; and four grandchildren, Olivia McMillian of Commiskey, Curtis Baker of Dupont, Faith Scott of Hanover, Indiana, and Gary Halcomb of Deputy, Indiana; and nine great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 68 years on May 8, 2018; a daughter, Molly Baker; her brothers, Emery and Curt Begley; and five sisters, Oma, Audra, Dolly and Ruby Begley and Zonal Webster.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 13, at the Commiskey Baptist Church in Commiskey, Visitation is 10 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at the church. Burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon, Indiana. Face masks and continued cooperation are recommended to help keep our community safe.
