Norris E. Krall, 88, of Osgood, Indiana, died Monday, Nov. 7, 2022, at Arbor Grove Village in Greensburg, Indiana.

He was born on Tapps Ridge in Switzerland County, Indiana, on Feb. 8, 1934, to Elmer and Norma Whitham Krall. He attended elementary school in a one room school at Mt. Hope on Tapps Ridge and was a 1951 graduate of Vevay High School in Vevay, Indiana. He graduated from Indiana University in 1955 with a degree in business administration with an accounting specialty. He married Mary Elizabeth Lock on June 29, 1956, and was a CPA employed by Lybrand, Ross Bros. & Montgomery in Louisville and later Chicago from 1955 to 1962. He served in the US Army from 1956 to 1958 as a lieutenant in the Finance Corps school at Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Indiana, where he was an instructor, writer of training manuals and later company commander of a student detachment. He joined Thomas & Skinner, the oldest manufacturer of permanent magnets in the U.S., as a controller in January 1963 in Indianapolis, later serving as secretary, treasurer, vice president and president until his retirement in 1999. He was then chairman of the board until he retired in April 2014 at age 80 and was named director emeritus for life. He was a member of Fredonia Baptist Church on Tapps Ridge and then Rolling Fields Baptist Church in Jeffersonville, Indiana, Park Grove Baptist Church in Beech Grove, Indiana, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at Fairland, Indiana, and had been a member of the Dabney Baptist Church since 1976 where he served as a deacon, teacher and treasurer. He was a life member and former director of the Ripley County Historical Society and with his wife had written several history books on Ripley County and its veterans, the History of the Dabney Baptist Church and Community and a history of the Holton Schools. Widowed in October 1981, he married Gloria Joan Tucker Martin on Aug. 14, 1982.

Survivors include three sons, James Kenneth Krall and Michael Krall, both of Osgood, and Terry Krall of Carmel, Indiana; a stepson Anthony Martin of Fairland, Indiana; three stepdaughters Michele “Mitzi” Chapelow of Zenas, Indiana, Kimberly Martin of Franklin, Indiana and Candace Robinson of Shelbyville, Indiana; a special friend, Rheadawn Metz, of Greensburg; and six grandchildren, 14 step grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 12 step great-grandchildren, and two step great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of 25 years on Oct. 8, 1981; and his second wife of 35 years on Dec. 20, 2017.

Funeral services were Friday, Nov. 11, at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.

Burial was in Greendale Cemetery in Osgood, with military rites by the Versailles American Legion.

Memorials may be given to the Dabney Baptist Church or the Ripley County Historical Society through the funeral home.
