Ramona Ann Moreillon Voris, 80, of Madison, Indiana, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2020, at Norton Hospital in Louisville.
She was born Jan. 2, 1940, in Switzerland County, Indiana, to Dwight and Lucy Florence Brandon Moreillon. Her family left Switzerland County prior to her first birthday and moved to downtown Madison. She grew up on the McQueen Place in North Madison and was a 1958 graduate of Madison High School. As a child she walked through McQueen’s pasture to the North Madison Baptist Church and remained a member there until 1978, where she was active in the missionary circle, Sunday school and the food bank. As a child she enjoyed making up songs and making mud pies. She married Ray Carroll Voris on Dec. 29, 1958, and they had two daughters. She had car-hopped as a teenager at A&W Root Beer, Dog-N-Suds and Park-N-Eat. She later worked at G.C. Murphy’s Five and Dime Store in downtown Madison. She followed her husband to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, when he served in the US Marine Corps and returned to Madison in 1962 after his discharge. She enjoyed babysitting for many families in Madison and for 15 years cleaned the First Assembly of God Church in Madison and volunteered at People That Love Food Pantry. She followed her husband to Yuma, Arizona, on April 18, 1995 and worked for Mary Watson Realty and cleaned homes before they were sold as well as babysitting. She returned to Madison on May 3, 2003 and remained a member of First Assembly of God Church until 2012. She then became an active member of River Valley Community Church in Madison. She enjoyed working with her hands, writing, drawing, doing dishes while looking out her kitchen window, cleaning her home, caring for children and doing yard work.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years of Madison; her daughters, Shelly Renee Voris Bright of Madison and Melissa Raye Voris Mays of Canaan, Indiana; three sisters, Betty Lou Moreillon Craig of Bedford, Kentucky and Delia Mae Moreillon Colwell and Rhonda Kay Moreillon Watson, both of Madison; and four grandchildren, several children she baby sat and considered like her own and several several nieces, nephews, relatives and family pets.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Phyllis Jean Moreillon Fultz, Lotus Hutson and Saralee Moreillon Barnes; two brothers, Dwight Wayne Moreillon and George Arthur Moriellon; and many other family members.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison. Interment will follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison. Visitation is 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
